No one expected to cast a vote for murder on election day...

The small town of Heywood is abuzz with excitement as it votes for a new Sheriff. But when a body turns up at the polling station, the tragic death halts everything—and what initially appears to be an untimely passing soon reveals itself as a cleverly concealed murder.

With suspicion hanging in the air, the acting Sheriff reluctantly turns to amateur sleuth Gina and her sassy talking dog, Daisy, to help crack the case. But things quickly take a personal twist: all the evidence points to Trevor—Gina's boyfriend. Determined to clear his name, Gina and Daisy dig deep into the victims’ life.

However, someone doesn’t want them snooping around. As the pair face increasing threats, Gina realizes the only way to uncover the truth is to embrace her past, even if it means calling in favors from her less-than-law-abiding family—and maybe bending a few rules herself.

With the election on the line, Gina must find the murderer before they follow through with the threats and Gina’s voting days are over… permanently.

Maybe the final chapter?

"Dog Kisses and Danger (Heywood Hounds #6)" by Carly Winter has Gina trying to clear her bf (Trevor) of yet another frame job of a case. This time, the election counter working the sherif election is found dead mid count and Trevor is one of the candidates. The interm-sheriff puts a bug in Gina's head that it could have been her or her boyfriend since they weren't sure he'd win. There are a few other good suspects and I was lean more towards one particular suspect. I was close but only because of their relationship with the actual culprit. My idea for motive was way off though. This may be the last book of the series. I feel it has come to a good conclusion point or a break point for the series. I think if it did continue there would need to be some changes in the general pace of the story and some ongoing plot lines. Everyone seems to have hit a good point in their individual stories. However, we never find out who Wolfgang's previous human was. That could be a story too since Trevor adopted him to work at the police station.

Election chaos

Well this isn't the way you want election day to go. Now Trevor is the prime suspect and you know Gina won't let that go. Gina and smarty pants Daisy (wish I could have a dog or cat like that, how fun would that be?) now have to solve another murder so the election can continue have have the right person in charge after the Sheriff Mallory fiasco that has been haunting Heywood for so long. What fun it would be to live in Heywood with all the wonderful people..well except to all the murders. So sad this is the last book in the series but looking forward to whatever comes next. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

a good end

As usual, I loved this! Super quick read (though it could have been longer!) There were a couple things that I wish were dug into more. Like, I wish we got more of Wolfgang's story. I think that would be a great idea for the next book. Carly mentions after the epilogue that she is stepping away from Heywood for a while. This makes me sad, but if this is the last we see of them, this book was a good way to end it.

Fun fast paced cozy

This is apparently the last book in this series so I’ll be looking for this author’s other books.Gina and Daisy make an incredible team. And Gina takes in a new dog which Daisy struggles with somewhat. And if you know Daisy, you know she had something to say.We finally get the much awaited election for sheriff, but stuff happens and Gina winds up trying to solve a murder so that Trevor can continue his fight for sheriff, rather than wind up wrongfully convicted of murder.Daisy is hilarious in this book. She definitely has a lot to say.I’m sorry to see this series end and I’m still hoping the author will come back to it later.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Daisy rules!

I just adore her. I do like Gina too, even though she can be a bit… um… rude? But all for the sake of the investigation! This was a great book, that I very much enjoyed. A new Sheriff has to be elected. The pages turned themselves and I was holding my breath a couple times!
