When Gina Dunner is framed for murder, she must solve two mysteries:
Who really killed the bar owner, and who planted the evidence that could lead to her going to prison for the rest of her life.

Why couldn't we, at least this once, have a happy ending instead of one that leads straight into another murder? It was a perfect chance, but the author didn't give it to us. If Trevor ends up a suspect, I will stop reading anything by this author. I'm so disappointed.
When a bar owner is murdered, Gina finds herself in hot water when her DNA is found at the scene of the crime. Realizing that someone is setting her up, Gina and Daisy set out to clear her name. This is the fifth book in the series but the first one I’ve read. This book stands alone fairly well but was definitely entertaining enough to go back and read the prior ones. My favorite character was definitely Daisy. She is so funny and even though she sometimes drives Gina crazy, they are the perfect crime solving duo. The story is well told and the mystery well paced. It definitely kept me guessing and fun and entertaining. This is the perfect read for anyone who enjoys a clean cozy mystery with interesting characters and the funniest talking dog. Can’t wait to read the others in the series.
Gina is in trouble a bar owner is murdered in his office and she is being framed for murder. She went to check on her friend who works as a bar tender and now suspects that she put the evidence at the scene. Gina has to figure out who killed Kevin or she will be going to jail. This was really fun and I recommend it.
I love the Heywood Hound series by Carly Winter. She is creating a community filled with an interesting cast of characters. Gina Dunner runs the local pet store and has a talking dogthat only Gina can understand.Gina is being accused of murder. With the help of a few friends, Gina (and Daisy) needs to figure out who actually committed the murder.Daisy is my favorite character. She thinks she’s the smartest in the room and should be in charge. Her antics are funny: her never ending quest for bacon and her love of naps!I thoroughly enjoyed this new installment of the Heywood Hounds series. If you like cozy mysteries, this series is right for you.I received an advance review copy from Book Sirens for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"Misfit Mutts and Mayhem Heywood Hounds Cozy Mysteries Book 5" is a gripping detective story in which the main character, Gina Danner, being accused of murder, tries to prove her innocence by unraveling a complex tangle of intrigues and secrets. The plot of the story is a classic detective plot, but the presence of a talking dog and unusual characters adds originality, creates many funny and unexpected situations, which undoubtedly attracts the reader's attention. The work is dynamic, events develop quickly and unpredictably, and the possibility of revealing social problems and secrets of the small town of Heywood adds depth to the plot. The detective is ideal for lovers of light and funny stories filled with secrets and colorful characters.
