In the 1960s, she was just a pretty face flying high at thirty-thousand feet…
Stewardess Patricia Byrne has heard it all—the jokes, the assumptions, the "pretty face, empty head" dismissals. But when she discovers her neighbor Charles murdered in his apartment, Patty is devastated to lose her friend.
The police have their suspect list: the angry wife who wouldn't sign divorce papers, the girlfriend who needed money, the fellow soldier from the Vietnam War, and the anti-war protestor downstairs. But as Patty digs deeper, she uncovers secrets Charles kept hidden.
When a threatening note appears under her pillow, Patty faces a choice: back off and stay safe, or prove that the "stupid stewardess" is smarter than everyone thinks.
Can Patty find the killer before she becomes the next victim?

I really enjoyed reading Dearly Departed and getting to know Patty and friends. It truly was a cozy mystery and I can't wait to read the next in the series and see what's in store for Patty.
This is an awesome book. The story is a combination of mystery and unbelievable reasons for killing people. I received a complimentary copy of this book from book sirens.
I received this book as an advanced read and these are my own thoughts. I liked the characters, loved the retro world of the 60s. As a teenager then, it was fun to relive those Tim’s. So glad the ridiculous, male enforced stewardess rules are gone. And the smoking, so glad that is banned. Miss the meals, tho. This book was not fluff and contained some great insights into the times. The Beginning of women’s lib, the tragic treating of our Vietnam Vets, the flower children and peaceniks, the reputation of stewardesses, to name a few.
