Home renovations are hard... and some come with killer surprises.
After a year of adventures, Sam and Jordan are ready to settle down in the small town of Heywood, Arizona. The fixer-upper they’ve purchased seems like the perfect project...until Jordan’s renovations lead to more than just a leaky roof and they need to hire some help.
When one of their contractors is found murdered in their garage, Sam realizes this "small project" is about to become a much bigger problem than she ever could’ve imagined.
With the killer possibly lurking close to home—and using cutting-edge technology for sinister reasons—Sam teams up with her quirky friends to uncover the truth. But the clock is ticking, and the culprit isn’t keen on leaving loose ends. Can Sam untangle the mystery before her new home becomes a deadly trap?

Sam and Jordan, after a year of traveling, have returned to Heywood to settle down.
They found a new home to share their lives together but there is just one little problem. A body was found in their home. Here they go again, trying to find out who done it, it seems they just can not get away from mysteries. At least they have a new sheriff who also happens to be a friend so he is happy to work with them.
It is nice to see old friends and maybe a few new ones.
Welcome back to Heywood, Arizona the lovely little town with way to many murders.
After traveling the country, Sam and Jordan are back in Heywood and up to their ears in trouble. Jordan’s plan to renovate their fixer-upper home has turned into a disaster. Then, Sam finds out that Sage Advice is on the brink of bankruptcy under Annabelle’s ownership. Finding a dead body in their garage is just one more headache. Things get dicey when they realize someone is using phone cloning to manipulate them. Who is trying to lure them away from the house and why? With the renovations on hold while the garage is a crime scene, Sam is at her wit’s end.
Another wonderful visit to Heywood catching up with some great characters. Sam, Jordan, Gina, Trevor, Annabelle, and Doug are all on hand for this cozy mystery. Long time readers of the Heywood Herbalist and/or Heywood Hounds series will feel like they’re catching up with old friends. New readers won’t feel lost as enough background is given to fill in the gaps. I loved seeing Gina with her double litter of rescue puppies, although I missed Daisy’s commentary. The main mystery was cleverly constructed with the use of technology a nice twist. Sam and Jordan’s catchphrase to prove their identity on the phone was cute and smart. I also liked the way Sam found to help Annabelle, respecting how difficult it was for her.

Sam and Jordan have returned to Heywood after a years worth of travel. The home that they purchased needs extensive maintenance that Jordan discovers is beyond his capabilities so they hire a local contractor to do the remodel. When one of the workers is found murdered in the garage both revert to investigative mode and work with Trevor, the sheriff and an old friend. With not just the search for a killer which is delaying the home repairs, but the discovery that Annabelle is mismanaging Sage Advice and is close to losing the store, Sam is kept doubly busy. This is a fine mystery with the joining together of familiar characters from three series of Heywood area stories. More interaction with this group is very welcome.

This was a very entertaining quick read cozy murder mystery. I love that Samantha and Jordan are back in Heywood. I have enjoyed this whole series and the spinoff series too. The murder suspects all had reasonable motives keeping it interesting. The sub plots all added to the story telling. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone.
