Nailing a murderer is difficult… but so is dealing with a cranky talking dog.
When the owner of Hammer and Nail Hardware is found dead, Gina's most loyal customer, Erika, becomes the prime suspect.
Despite having every reason to kill Molly Burton, Erika vehemently denies involvement and pleads with Gina to help uncover the real murderer. With almost all evidence pointing to Erika, Gina and her talking dog, Daisy, along with Deputy Trevor Hutchinson, delve into the secrets concealed behind the aisles of the hardware store. However, the clues they unearth leave them with more questions than answers.
Adding to the chaos, Gina takes in a bonded pair of dogs who prefer solitude. Daisy is determined to break them up, despite Gina's pleas to let them be.
As danger escalates, can Gina and Daisy hammer out the details and expose the true murderer?

Furballs and Fatalities
Furballs and Fatalities: A Talking Dog Cozy Mystery is book #3 in the Heywood Hounds Cozy Mysteries series by Carly Winter.
This is such a fun series. I can relate to Gina and I adore Daisy. She is dramatic and adds a lot of humor. This was an interesting mystery because no one was quite what they seemed. I enjoy Trevor and Gina working together. I was completely surprised by who the guilty party was. And the bombshell at the end has me anxious for the next book!

Gina gets involved in the investigation of the murder of the owner of the hardware store when one of her customers is accused. Erika swears she’s innocent despite evidence against her. The investigation finds that both the victim and her husband were having affairs and that Erika’s boyfriend seems very controlling. When Gina and Annabelle set a trap for the killer, have they miscalculated? Good thing Trevor is on the case.
Meanwhile, Gina also has to deal with Daisy’s pouting when she fosters a bonded pair of dogs, Frank & Marilyn. Daisy wants to play with Marilyn but Frank won’t let her. And Trevor has some information about Gina’s mom, which she doesn’t want to hear.
Another fun mystery from Carly Winter. Poor Daisy, she just wants to be friends. Gina is having a hard time hiding that she can understand Daisy from Trevor. The mystery was nicely crafted with a twist I didn’t see coming. Always nice to visit the residents of Heywood, AZ. Looking forward to what’s next for Gina, Trevor, & Annabelle.

Daisy is the star, of course, Daisy the talking dog. Or at least, Gina can communicate with her. I only felt that I was left with some questions at the end. But well worth it, it’s well written and easy-to read. The pages turn themselves!
